As Sr. Manager of Learning and Development, I was the lead creative concept and graphic designer for large-scale cultural development and leadership building programs at Luxottica.
LeadForward Leadership Training Program
The highest leadership challenged our Learning & Development team to improve the quality of the leadership exhibited by the highest levels of the company’s org chart. We created LeadForward, which I was able to be a concept development lead. It is a platform where Senior Director through Vice President level associates can improve their skills through peer relationships and self-evaluation around 8 components of leadership.
We explained the goal behaviors and I designed a laminated checklist that could be used similarly to how Ben Franklin pursued his own 13 famous virtues.
LeadForward Early Concept Work
Collaborative exploring and brainstorming sessions helped refine these early concepts for the LeadForward program. The earliest drafts had a dark, tribal feel. It was for an internal audience of associates, so the goal was to look different and bold.
Later, we decided to reign the designs back and make them appear more akin to the Luxottica brand.
Meaningful Conversation Playing Cards
Our team needed ways to coach the community of associates to improve their communication. Meaningful Conversations is a buzzword term that implies getting to the point and unlocking the things that often go unsaid.
I designed two sets of real playing cards that were distributed to associates and managers. I also was able to introduce the cards to all new employees hired over a two-year period. The cards are not prescriptive, but suggestions or prompts for anyone who has trouble getting a Meaningful Conversation started.
